One of the coolest new features in macOS Big Sur is the ability to turn on Instant Hotspot on your iPhone. This feature let’s you share your iPhone’s internet connection with your Mac without needing to enter a password. To turn Airplane Mode on you need to swipe up from the bottom of your phone’s screen and tap on Airplane Mode or press Control+Command+Option+Shift+8. To turn off Airplane Mode, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and tap again or press Control+Command+Option+Shift+.
Take hands-free selfies
One of the most interesting new features in macOS Big Sur is the ability to take hands-free selfies. This is made possible by the new FaceTime HD camera, which uses infrared sensors to detect when your face is in frame. When it is, the camera will automatically snap a photo. For better results, try positioning yourself in front of a light source or wearing clothes with contrasting colors. At the time of writing this blog post, Apple hasn’t confirmed whether these photos will be stored locally on your Mac or sent over iCloud Photos for sharing with friends and family. The MacBook Pro 2018 has seen some upgrades too: now with Touch ID and up to six hours battery life thanks to increased efficiency from its 8th-generation Intel Core processors and redesigned second generation butterfly keyboard that’s quieter and more responsive than before.

Set Do Not Disturb mode
One of the most useful new features in macOS Big Sur is the Do Not Disturb mode. This mode silences all notifications, so you can focus on what you’re doing without interruption. To turn on Do Not Disturb mode, just click the notification icon in the menu bar and select Do Not Disturb. You can also schedule Do Not Disturb mode to turn on and off automatically at certain times, or set it to turn on when your screen is locked. If you need to be reached in an emergency, you can allow calls from certain contacts to come through even when Do Not Disturb mode is enabled.
Use the new Super Retina Display
The new Super Retina Display on the MacBook Pro is absolutely stunning. With over 500 nits of brightness and P3 wide color gamut, it’s significantly brighter and more vibrant than any other laptop display. And the bezels are 50% thinner, so you’ll see more of your content and less of the screen around it. Our True-Tone technology adjusts the display’s color temperature according to the ambient light in your environment, which means you’ll never feel discomfort from straining your eyes even after prolonged use. That’s not all—you can also connect up to two external displays at 4K resolution with HDR. All this adds up to a beautiful, big-screen experience with sharper text and richer colors that make even the smallest details stand out.
Unlock MacBook with your face
macOS Big Sur introduces a new way to unlock your MacBook with your face. This feature uses the Face ID sensor built into your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air to quickly and securely unlock your Mac. Then, click on the Face ID tab and follow the instructions. Once you’ve set it up, simply look at your Mac to unlock it — no need to enter your password! Plus, you can also use Face ID to approve App Store purchases, access locked documents, and more. If you don’t want to turn on Face ID, just log in as usual using your account password.
